P4P was conceived in Spring 2010 as a group Community Action Project through the Diversity Leaders Initiative (DLI) of The Riley Institute at Furman University.

The DLI Midlands Class III group, the "1DERS" (Diverse Energies for Reaching Solutions), is composed of nine Palmetto State professionals from varied backgrounds and areas of expertise.
